Antique United Indurated Fibre Co. Lockport N.Y., U.S.A. Cylindrical Container

Description

-Good condition. Has signs of wear which are consistent with its age. No visible cracks or repairs. Any imperfections are most likely due to utilitarian use over time.
-Measures 15" tall, 5" wide across the top, 4.5" wide across the bottom.
-Style: Country, Americana
-On the inside of the container, 1.5" below the rim in two spots are circular markings with a line crossed through them. They may indicate punch marks for bail handles, for use as a fire bucket, or pail. These markings are off centered, likely to allow for dipping and pouring purposes if there had been a handle attached. As for the measurements from one mark to the other, they are not equal as they are off centered. The shorter distance between the markings is 4.5" while the longer distance between them is 9.5" (measuring from the center of each marking to the other). The circular markings themselves are each 1/4" in diameter. Aside from those and the manufacturer embossing on the bottom of the container, there are no other embellishments or markings.
