Nice early carved wood desk or wall pocket.   Actually, it is probably more of a desk item as there are no hooks to hang on the back, but you can put them there.
The wood is a dark stain, so I am only guessing it is walnut.
Good condition.   Needs a little cleaning as shown.   There is a crack which goes straight through the wood back on the top left (see photo).   Clean split could be mended easily.
Back measures approx 8" high x 8.75" wide.   The pocket extends out 2.75".
Nice hand carved piece.
Looks like there may be the remains of a sticker or tag on the back.
