kitchens, where wives and daughters were busy baking a whole host of savory breads, biscuits and pies. The pre-drilled, perforated holes found on the door's lower panel and on the upper rear panel of the box, were meant to allow moisture vapor from warm baked breads and other items, to cool properly and escape from the closed compartment. The hinged front door's fastened to the box at the bottom and still has its original turn latch door hardware. The interior of the bread box features a middle shelf and a lower shelf for placing loaves of baked bread upon or perhaps savory warm, just baked fruit pies. Simply lovely. Honest.
Farmhouse chic.
