Very Primitive Prairie Black Doll Head & Shoulders

Description

This is a very primitive black doll head and shoulders item listed as "prairie" by the owner.  It is so very special as it reflects the maker's attempt to make an object from the materials on hand.  I would not call the maker skilled, but the doll has "staying power" in that it is intact with no tears, holes or missing areas.  It measures 7 inches across the shoulders and 4 1/2" in height.  Features are sewn and includes crudely made eyes and eyebrows, nose and mouth.  The head is covered with a gauze type material and tied in place by a string. A small black safety pin (probably not original) is on the back. No clothes accompany this piece.
If you like very primitive "art" or toys, this piece seems to qualify as unique and special in many ways.
